Letter From Our President

Happy Spring! Hi,Hi! What is there to talk about other than snow! The first of spring delivered the gift of yet another snowstorm. Not just a snowstorm, but a BLIZZARD! I am sure that everyone has a lot of snow mountains in their yards. We have so much snow by our doorway that we foresee flooding into the house when snowmelt comes. We'll have to be alert and make a deep trench to divert water from the entranceway.

Hams on Echolink have been telling me about serious flooding in the central part of the country and tornado damage in the southeastern states. Guess we should be happy with our snow.

Our April meeting is our annual meeting. Election will take place. Please note that those at the meeting decided not to use a nominating commitee. Therefore, nominations will be made at the meeting, or can be made by an e-mail to me before the meeting. We will have pizzas, so it will be a supper meeting. I will contact you for your pizza choice.

Can-Am Thanks

I want to thank all those who helped with the Can-Am Communications. It takes a lot of hams to make the communications successful. KB1OWW and N1EVO worked on the repeaters in the last year to keep them in good shape. N1EVO loaned a j-pole he made to KB1EBE at the 60 mile checkpoint. KB1OWW discovered the coax from the antenna at Lonesome Pine was frozen in the pipe. He made up a piece of coax to go from the pipe to the radio in the timing room. KC1SE was at the Rocky Brook Checkpoint and was called into action on a non-ham job while there. N1QMC was at the Allagash Checkpoint, and N1JHD helped her set up. W1TCP worked at the finish line at Lonesome PIne.

The other positions were covered by out-of-town hams, several from way south of here. We certainly appreciate them devoting so much time and expertise to this event for us. AA1XD, KB1JDN, K1JJS,and W1LWT were at control center, along with KB1EBE and KB1CLC on night duty. WA1YNZ, N1WRX, N1WRY, and KB1OWU were at the Portage Check Point. KB1OOW was at Rocky Brook. K1XI, N1NYX, KB1PCQ, and N1HBY were at Maibec. K1ACO was at Black Lake with his XYL. K1MJB, KB1JHX, and N1CFA helped at Village Street and/or the start. N1FG was at Allagash, the start, and Village Street.

A Bit of Humor
Catholic kids write about the bible(uncorrected)
Pay special attention to the wording and spelling. *Adam and eve were created from an apple tree. Noah's wife was joan of ark. Noah built and ark and the animals came on in pears. * Moses died before he ever reached canada. then joshua led the hebrews in the battle of geritol. *Moses led the jews to the red sea where they made unleavened bread which is bread without any ingredients.* The people who followed the lord were called the 12 decibels.
