Greetings to all on a beautiful April day. Robins and others are singing.
The brooks and rivers are running, helped by an unusual 70°F day on the 23rd. The
first wild flowers have been spotted--the bright yellow Coltsfoot.
The heavy wet snowstorms of April caused some problems. My two-meter antenna's radials are hanging just about straight down. My Mosley vertical has a list. I need to do some straightening. The snow was so heavy it bent the axle on our snowblower. The Swain's Island DXpedition taking place during April is still unheard by me and WB1FTK. We can hear a faint signal on some of the bands at the designated frequencies. We keep hoping for an opening. ZL1ANF in New Zealand told me early in the month that New Zealanders were contacting Swain's Island on all the bands. He advised me to wait until later in the month. |
N1EVO has offered to host our May 8th meeting at his house. He will have a big pot of chicken stew ready for us to eat when we arrive at 6:00. Then we will have a quick business meeting and Carl will give a CW demonstration with his new CW radio and show us how CW decoding works. Carl's house is behind the Police Station in Fort Kent. Just drive in by the Police Station and continue to the big white house at the end of that street. Carl is upstairs in that house.
